Happy Hour

I decided to scout around the town visiting other hotels and looking for a good bar to hang. My scouting trips help decide where I would stay and things I would do differently when I come back with Sarah. I found this hotel with a great waterfront bar called the Red Mangrove. The setting is lovely in a clay color paint and a winding path that leads to various places on the hotel grounds.
I found the reception desk and ask to see a room along with the rack rate charges per night. She took me to a room called Esmeralda with a kind bed and balcony over looking the water. The room was triple What I was currently paying but the grounds with its variety of trees, plants and winding paths made for a wonderful vibe.
I did find the bar which I shared with different animals, birds and my drink....

A Chance Encounter....

I was just relaxing around the hotel. My plan was later to take a cab to see some animals in the wild and visit the lava craters and tunnel. I had the good fortune to strike up a conversation with Joe LaFleur a Geologist from of all places Oregon, Eugene to be exact. We got to talking about a number of different topics. It was an enjoyable experience that I said how about this evening's happy hour we meet up for a drink. I know this nice waterfront bar that makes great drinks. We agreed to hook up later.
Judy helped me get a cab and discuss price and some things I wanted to see and I was off....
The first stop was a place where you can see these huge turtles in their natural habitat eating, sleeping and doing all things slow....we took some great photos then after about an hour headed to the twin craters. The final stop stop was the treacherous lave tunnel.

Joe the Geologist..like Bill he loves his Tee Shirts. This one says, Geologist are nice people...

Charles Darwin Research Center

I have a healthy breakfast that Judy made herself for me. It is only 7:30 am but I am heading the the Darwin Research Center. Along the way, I stop at a hotel that seems more upscale. The Research Center is another place making changes and renovated certain information areas for the better. I got my map of the place and took about two hours walking on trails and platform viewing. Iguanas sitting right on the road as you feel like you are entering Jurassic Park that look so prehistoric. The weather was perfect and it with a misty rain that kept tourist home and animals outside.
